Explore some of the more hard-to-get areas with spectacular scenery on horseback! Take your pick from two of our recommendations, Kualoa Ranch or Happy Trails.
Kualoa Ranch‘s one and two hour horseback tours offer some of the best valley vistas on the island. You’ll get to explore the lush Ka’a’awa Valley where several films were shot, including Jurassic Park and 50 First Dates. Or maybe you want more of an ocean ride, with views of the famous “Chinaman’s Hat” island and an ancient Hawaiian fishpond. Either tour is spectacular and the ranch will help riders of all skill levels. There are some restrictions which you should look into, and Kualoa does offer other “day trip adventures” if you are not into riding.

Happy Trails Hawaii is located on the North Shore, high above the famous Waimea Bay. You’ll explore tropical forests, lush ranch land and wild orchards – not to mention the panoramic views toward the ocean! Featured in local and military media, Happy Trails offer small riding groups on guided trails with friendly mounts and knowledgeable staff. Horsemanship instruction is provided with three ride schedules every day of the week. Some restrictions do apply, and reservations are required.
