Yesterday, the state of Hawaii just made history and became the 16th state to grant full marriage equality to same-sex couples.
Hawaii Governor Abercrombie signed the gay marriage bill into law. Now, all couples in our state will have equal rights to marry, and equal protection under the law. This is an important step forward for Hawaii, and the LGBT community as a whole. The overwhelming support for this common-sense legislation showed our legislators that it was high time for true equality for all of our friends, family, and neighbors.
We at Hale ‘Nalo support all of the wonderful people we know who deserve nothing less than full equality.
First and foremost, we wish to thank our past guests for the kind words they have posted on TripAdvisor, VRBO, FlipKey and Google.
Secondly, we wish to thank our friends at TripAdvisor for Ranking us #1 in Specialty Lodging in Waimanalo!
We feel honored to have reached 100 EXCELLENT reviews, because TripAdvisor is, in our humble opinion, the best and most reliable of all travel websites.
To our friends at TripAdvisor: a big “mahalo” for being a part of our team!
Because of the installation of solar photovoltaic panels, our carbon offset has totaled: 4,262 pounds which is the equivalent to planting 53 Blue Spruce Evergreen trees. And this carbon offset is just so far — since mid-February this year!
(Below are our actual “before and after” Hawaii Electric Company “HECo” bills.
January 2013: $302.97, March 2013: $17.00 ($17 is the base cost for a connection to HECo). HOO HOO!
We do our best to make our guests comfy, including any-everything short of air conditioning which isn’t terribly planet-friendly.
Last week we had a contractor come in and install a solar powered roof fan and BOY what a difference that has made. The room is cooler by far, making sleeping all the more pleasant.
We are SO impressed that in the coming days we’ll get one installed in Makai.
UPDATE: both our Garden Suites are now much cooler, thanks to solar fans having been installed at the top peak of the 14′ ceiling. Warm air rises and now, goes outside. Yippee!
Sweet dreams, dearest guests.
Last month we took the leap to “get off the grid” and had a photovoltaic solar system installed, which means we now have the ability to harvest all our energy from the sun! WOO HOO!!!
SO, the next time you’re on your computer or taking a shower or doing a load of laundry at Hale ‘Nalo, you can ENJOY the fact that you’re using only the sun’s energy!
Mahalo for your support!
A hui hou (“until we meet again”) from Hale ‘Nalo!
